Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicketkeeper has been under the scanner after his poor show with the bat for Team India. It’s been long that he has given any standout performance for the national team. He was deemed the successor of MS Dhoni but now after his successive failures, team India has started losing out their patience over Pant which is creating an excessive pressure over him. Now, former Indian cricketer, VVS Laxman has come out with advice over how to use the Indian wicketkeeper in the team.

The 21-year-old Pant has shown an average game at number 4 position since his debut in limited-overs. On Sunday evening, he once again came out with a below-par performance with the bat as he scored a 20-ball 19 during the third T20I which India lost by nine wickets against South Africa. It looks like an average run may result in another spell out of the team for the youngster. After Indian selectors gave their opinion over the backups of the Delhiite.

VVS Laxman advises team India over Rishabh Pant

According to VVS Laxman, Rishabh Pant is a free-flowing batsman, and his nature of batting is aggressive and at number 5 or 6 positions he will get the right to express himself, “Pant should bat at number 5 and 6, where you have the license to go out and express yourself and at the moment he doesn’t know the right method of scoring runs at number 4,” VVS Laxman said as quoted by News 24.

Laxman feels that at the moment Hardik Pandya or Shreyas Iyer should play at number 4 position because they have much more experience as Pant is trying to evolve his game, “He is trying to evolve and trying to add different dimensions to his game by rotating the strike that we saw in the previous match but unfortunately, his shot selection at the start of the innings has not been great there are other people to bat at number 4 like Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer who are experienced and can play at that spot.” added the former India cricketer

India lost the 3rd T20I by nine wickets against South Africa. The visitors were successful in leveling the series who were lagging behind India ahead of the 3rd T20I in the series by 1-0
