The second Test match between India and New Zealand is all set to take place at iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It has been announced that spectators will be allowed in the second Test with 25 percent of the stadium’s capacity. It has to be noted that Wankhede has the capacity of 30,000 spectators and an MCA official stated that they are trying to push the capacity to 50 percent.

As of now, 25 percent has been approved by the Maharashtra government. India is currently playing its first Test of the two-match series at Green Park, Kanpur, and Indian skipper Virat Kohli will join the action with his men from this venue itself.

“As per the general order of the Maharashtra government signed by the chief secretary, 25 percent crowd is allowed for the Wankhede Test as of now. MCA is still hopeful that they may give us 50 percent crowd permission,” the official said as quoted by the Indian Express.

The last Test match which was held at the stadium was against England in 2016 December and with 2nd New Zealand Test, the iconic venue will see the return of international cricket on its soil.

Axar Patel helps India script a stylish comeback on day three of the Kanpur Test

India is currently playing the first Test in Kanpur and day three ended in their favour where spinner Axar Patel helped them to bounce back in style with his classy fifer. The visitors saw their middle-order unsettling in no time which led the Indian side to maintain their lead. After wrapping up NZ on 296 runs, Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal came up to bat again.

However, Gill turned his back quite early and day four will see Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara opening up the side. Talking about 1st innings, the highlight from India’s batting was debutant Shreyas Iyer’s century and also the half-centuries by Gill and Ravindra Jadeja.  It remains to be seen if India will be able to back themselves on the penultimate day of the Kanpur Test to take the series lead.
