New Zealand are currently playing England in a three-match Test series with the second Test match reaching its final stages. Meanwhile, Michael Bracewell has said that the Black Caps want to secure as many as points in the World Test Championship as possible.

At present, the second match is evenly poised with New Zealand having a lead of 238 runs in their second innings with Daryl Mitchell and Matt Henry holding the front for their side. The home side, on the other hand, will back themselves to win the second Test after quickly wrapping up the Kiwi side and chasing the total later on.

We ultimately want to win games of cricket: Michael Bracewell

Meanwhile, Bracewell, who is having a decent debut after scalping three wickets in the first innings and playing a useful knock of 25 off 17 in the second innings, emphasized the fact that the visitors are eager to win the series against the Three Lions.

“The draw sort of comes out of it at the end of the win is not possible, rather than the other way round. We’re willing to win a Test series against England. You want to secure as many WTC points as possible,” Bracewell was quoted by India Today.

“We ultimately want to win games of cricket and if that comes tomorrow where we have to bowl a little bit more negatively towards the end of the day, we’ll play that way. But yeah, we’re always aiming to win games of cricket,” he added.

The Day 5 of the second Test is expected to be an enthralling day of cricket with the match evenly poised as the home side will be looking to scalp the remaining three wickets of New Zealand as soon as possible and back themselves to chase the total while the Kiwi side would want to put a challenging total on the board. England lead the series 1-0, having won the previous Test at Lord’s.
