Former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis has made a humble request to resume cricket ties between India and Pakistan. In a very thoughtful tweet, Waqar requested the boards of both the countries to consider the option soon. Both India and Pakistan are definitely not at ease when it comes to national relations and that has reflected with cricketing ties as well.

The two teams were scheduled a play a bilateral series in December last year. It has been a year since, but there seems to be no news about any bilateral series between the neighbors. The political tensions between the two countries has affected all ties between them. Cricket is no exception. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Anurag Thakur had earlier remarked that there is no scope of playing cricket with Pakistan.

However, time and again, the former cricketers have urged the two boards to keep cricket and politics aside. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has often been in favor of playing India citing various reasons. In the ICC meeting recently, PCB chief had threatened the Indian counterparts to play them or forfeit the match. They also spoke about the BCCI bearing the expenses for the loss if the matches are not played. India and Pakistan are scheduled to play each other in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 next year.

Waqar Younis has now tried to break the ice by requesting both PCB and BCCI to consider playing a series for the sake of the fans. He tweeted, “@BCCI & @TheRealPCB lets play Cricket. World is desperate and waiting for Pak Vs India series #Request Please think of the Fans.”

As per the reports, the two boards will meet at Colombo on December 17 in the Asian Cricket Council meet. PCB has suggested a tri-series. The Indian board is against playing bilateral series but open to play Pakistan in a multi-team tournament at a neutral venue or in India.
