New Zealand’s spinner Ajaz Patel scripted history by securing ten wickets in India’s first innings in the Mumbai Test. This fetched him praises from all over the cricketing fraternity. India’s former cricketer Virender Sehwag also joined the bandwagon as he too lavished praises on the spinner.

Patel became only the third bowler in the history of Test cricket to secure ten wickets in an innings. However, the left-arm spinner became the first of the three bowlers to be on the losing side after having achieved this incredible feat. India registered a thumping victory against New Zealand by a massive margin of 372 runs in the Mumbai Test.

Sehwag thus took to his official Twitter account to put forward his opinions on the same. He congratulated the New Zealand spinner and wrote that it was a day to remember for him. The spinner was thus quick enough to respond to the former India cricketer’s Tweet. Replying to Sehwag, he recounted the instance wherein the batter had smashed him out of the ground.

“Thank you @virendersehwag, funny story I still remember you smashing me out of the ground at the outer oval at Eden Park when I came in as a net bowler Face with tears of joy,” Patel wrote in the reply.

Responding to Ajaz’s reply, Sehwag said that what the New Zealand spinner has achieved in the Mumbai Test is extraordinary. He further pointed that the audacity of Ajaz’s achievement is so high that more than India’s victory, people are talking about his ten-wicket haul.

“Waqt ki aadat hai , badalta zaroor hai. What you have achieved in Mumbai is extraordinary so much so that India ki jeet se jyada aapke charche hain. May you achieve ever more success and good luck,” his Tweet read.

The Mumbai-born left arm-spinner exuded his sheer flair in the Mumbai Test wherein he stood tall with the ball for the visitors. Ajaz Patel picked up 14 wickets in the second and final Test match and set a new record of most wickets taken in a Test against India. However, the bowler had initially started his career as a seamer before he decided to switch to spin bowling. From 11 Test matches so far, Patel has scalped a total of 43 wickets.
