Guyana Amazon Warriors have added Australian international Nic Maddinson to their squad for the remainder of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) campaign as Martin Guptill has been called up to the New Zealand squad for the forthcoming tour of Zimbabwe.

Guptill will play his final game of the CPL 2016 tonight against Jamaica Tallawahs in Sabina Park. The skipper has thus far had a mixed season with the bat scoring 164 runs in the 7 matches with one half-century. But has led the side superbly which has seen them win 5 of their 7 matches and are right at the top of the points table with almost an assured qualification for the playoffs.

Warriors who are in a strong position moving towards the business will definitely miss the dashing opener who has the ability to take away the game from the opposition in a flash.

Maddinson, 24, made his international debut against India in 2013, scoring 34 off 16 balls, and has represented Australia on two occasions in T20 Internationals.

The attacking left-handed opening batsman captained the Sydney Sixers in the 2015/16 Big Bash and in 50 T20 career innings he averages 23.93. In 56 First-Class matches to date, Maddinson has scored 3,417 runs at an average of 37.14, including seven centuries and he will link up with the Amazon Warriors squad for the match away to St. Lucia Zouks on 24th July in the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium (5pm).
