Washington Sundar's heartwarming wish for mentor MS Dhoni on his birthday

MS Dhoni is more than just a former captain, a teammate, or a legend for most in the Indian Cricket Team. The youngsters look up to him as an inspiration and aspire to become like him. Dhoni has been responsible for helping a lot of players shape their careers. Be it, batsmen or bowlers, Dhoni has valuable inputs for one and all.

He turned 37 on July 7, and a lot of cricketers took to social media to post their birthday wishes for the three-time ICC trophy winning captain. One among then was off-spinner Washington Sundar, who has often credited his rise in international cricket to the veteran. The two played together for the Rising Pune Supergiant in Indian Premier League where Washington made his debut in 2017 with Dhoni around to guide him.

Sundar lauds Dhoni’s attitude to face obstacles

On Dhoni’s birthday, Sundar posted a special message for the wicketkeeper-batsman which reads, “I have always believed that people are placed in life for a reason, and sometimes you don’t expect someone to have an impact on your life until they do. You have been through so much, but continue to push past any obstacle that falls in your path. You keep calm so well and it’s like a superpower of yours.”

He could have possibly referred to Dhoni’s struggle, as he came from a small-town with no support and went on to become the Indian captain and achieve all the glory that is there.

Dhoni inspires Sundar to become a better person 

He further also thanked Dhoni for being a role model to all the youngsters. “You inspire me everyday to want to be a better & tough person to face my own challenges. But most of all, I want to thank you for being the best role model we all could look up to. Once a fan boy always a fan boy. Happy Birthday, Mahi bhai,” the Tamil Nadu all-rounder concluded.
