Former Pakistan pace bowler Wasim Akram recently had a good long interaction with his fans on social media platform Facebook. Wasim Akram was live for J. Fragrances, a fragrance brand that Wasim Endorses.

In the interaction, Akram answered a variety of questions ranging from his personal habits to questions about the perfume brand he is endorsing. But the most captivating were the questions that encircled around cricket. When Akram was asked to pick his favorite match ever, he was quick to cite that he had a long career and it was difficult to pick any one match. He, however, settled with the 1992 World Cup final match as the answer to that question.

A fan then asked him who would be the closest successor to him in the Pakistan cricket. Akram admitted that it has to be Mohammad Amir, who can be the ideal successor. He spotted that Amir is young and bowls with his heart, pretty much the way Akram himself used to do.

Commenting on his favorite player in the Pakistan team current set up, Wasim Akram took the name of Asad Shafiq. He said he was impressed by the way Shafiq batted at number 6 in England. He scored a duck and then came back strong to hit a gallant century at the Oval. He also said that currently there is no other player who could replace Misbah Ul Haq. He quoted that Misbah is a calm head and is very mature both on and off the field, which make him a great leader. He called him a ‘sensible and true leader’.

He also spoke on Junaid Khan, who was in news for expressing his desire to leave the country in search of better opportunities. He cited that Junaid is a talented bowler and is actually surprised to see why he is not getting a look in at the Test level.

Lastly, when asked about who his favorite bowler is at the current stage, Akram said there are three. He picked James Anderson, Mitchell Starc and Dale Steyn. He was particularly very impressed by the way Starc has been bowling. Starc’s effort in Tests against Sri Lanka on turning tracks was praise worthy, he said. He also said he can closely relate to Starc as he is fast, bowls immaculate yorkers, has great in swingers and is a left armer – the qualities that Wasim Akram himself boasted of.
