There can be no argument over Inzamam-ul-Haq’s legacy as a batsman. He can be easily filtered into the group of the greatest batsman Pakistan has ever produced during his cricketing history. The Multan-born cricketer, who made his debut in 1992, played 120 Tests and 378 ODIs for Pakistan before retiring in 2007. He was all about strength and power.

But, everyone has a weakness and no one is perfect. Inzamam too had one – running between the wickets. The bulky right-hander was an excellent hitter of the ball and the cut shots through the point region are still memorable.

But, funnily, his laziness which led to his poor running between the wickets overshadowed his immense contribution on many occasions. Inzi not only got himself run-out but on many occasions, his running proved too costly for his partners as well.

Fans remember it because it happened quite often and in hysterical manners. The first time when he was completely owned Jonty Rhodes during the 1992 World Cup.

Jonty’s breathtaking effort became the highlight of his career and also one of the greatest moment in the World Cup history. But, it also gave the glimpse of the kind of errors Inzamam-ul-Haq would do in the future.

Another famous incident narrated by his former team-mate Wasim Akram was against West Indies in 1999. Akram recalled the incident which happened in Sharjah Test through one of his tweets today.

Akram had discussed with Inzamam that he will run a single off the second last ball in any case so that Akram won’t have to face a fresh over from the other end.

Ambrose came hard at Inzamam and delivered a yorker which floored him. As discussed before Akram ran but when he reached the other end, Inzamam-ul-Haq was standing there and inquired Akram “What are you doing here Wasim Bhai.”
