Wasim Akram had been one of the most fierce left-arm seamers in world cricket. He used to generate prodigious movements off the wickets and subsequently bamboozle the best in the business. The Pakistan prodigy plied his trade in Tests and One Day Internationals and has tasted equal success in all the formats. Meanwhile, he was no mug with the bat as he racked up handy runs lower down the order.

Over the years the bowling all-rounder garnered a substantial fan-following which doesn’t spring a surprise by any stretch of the imagination. Most recently, the former cricketer decided to give his fans plenty to cheer and gave them a delightful news. As per reports in geo.tv, Akram is set to make a comeback on the cricketing field next month.

He is set to return to the game at the Multan Cricket Stadium where he will play an exhibition game at the launch event of his team Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super league (PSL) on February 4, 2018. He is also selected as the skipper of his team against Shoaib Malik’s Toofan XI. The tournament will also feature former speedster Shoaib Akhtar, who partnered Wasim Akram for several years.

Malik and Akram to compete against each other

“Multan Da Muqabla is going to be a spectacular event for the locals as they will get to witness top players like Wasim Akram and Shoaib Malik competing head on,” an official was quoted as saying in the interaction with the media. The official also mentioned about the composition of the teams to the media.

“Each team will include four members from the Multan Sultans 2018 PSL squad, two celebrities, one member from AMK Associates, two kids from local clubs and one underprivileged youngster from Muslim Hands Foundation,” he added. The Multan Sultans Twitter handle also dropped a Tweet welcoming Akram to the squad. Here’s the Tweet

Sachin Blasters

This isn’t the first time Wasim Akram will be playing after announcing his retirement from the international circuit. In November 2015, he graced his presence for the Sachin Blasters against the Warne’s Warriors in an All-Stars T20 series. In the United States of America (USA). He opened the bowling, unleashed his resourceful bowling skills in the games and conjured roars from the stands.
