IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab batting coach Wasim Jaffer, who is known for his wit and humour on social media, took a sly dig at former England captain Michael Vaughan after India registered a win in the T20I series by 2-0 against Australia. After winning the first T20 International by 11 runs in Canberra, India registered a comprehensive victory by 6 wickets in the second T20I in Sydney to clinch the series.

With this win, India has also stamped their authority in the shortest format of the game as this was their 10 consecutive win away from home. Coming to the game, Virat Kohli sent the hosts to bat first. Australia had a dream start as stand-in captain Matthew Wade smashed the ball all over the park to score 58 runs off 32 deliveries. Steve Smith also played a decent knock by adding 46 runs to the scoreboard.

In the end, Moises Henriques and Marcus Stoinis applied the finishing touches to the innings by scoring 26 off 18 and 16 off 7 respectively. Thus, Australia comfortably managed to post a total of 194 on the board in their 20 overs. The pacer T Natarajan emerged as the most economical bowler for India as on the ground where other bowlers leaked runs at an economy of close to 10 and 12, Natarajan finished with the figures of 4-0-20-2.

Hardik Pandya takes India home in 2nd T20I against Australia

In reply, the duo of Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul gave a solid start to India as they collected 56 runs in 5 overs. Rahul added 30 runs to the scoreboard while Dhawan smashed a stunning half-century. This was followed by skipper Virat Kohli playing a quickfire knock of 40 runs off 24 deliveries.

All this boiled down to India needing 14 runs in the last over with Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya on strike. Hardik then took over his finishing duties as he scored a double, followed by two massive hits to take India home. For his match-defining knock of unbeaten 42 runs off 22 deliveries, he was rightly adjudged the Player of the Match.

Ahead of the marquee India tour of Australia, former England captain Michael Vaughan had made a prediction that India would get smoked in all the three formats of the game by Australia. Vaughan had tweeted, “Early call … I think Australia will beat India this tour in all formats convincingly … #AUSvIND”

Today, after India won the T20I series, Wasim Jaffer retweeted this post by the veteran cricketer and trolled him using a famous meme.
