Watch: Andre Russell the Superman from Jamaica win the game with a last ball six: The look of joy and triumph on the face say it all. As Jamaica Tallahwa’s Andre Russell smashes the last ball for a six to register a memorable win over the Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL 2014.
Let me walk you through the exciting last over of the match. Before the start of the last over the Jamaica Tallahwa’ needed 13 runs from the twentieth over, with Andre Russell and Owais Shah on the crease. On the other side the Guyana Amazon Warriors handed the responsibility of bowling the last over to the 23-year old New Zealander Jimmy Neesham. It was a big task in hand for the young bowler; Neesham coped well with the situation as he restricted the Tallahwa batsmen well allowing them to score just 3 runs from his first four deliveries. The first three balls yielded only a single run resulting from a Leg bye; it was followed by a wide delivery and a single of the fourth ball of the over. The stage was all set for a nerve wrecking finish; the Tallahwa’s needed 10 runs of 2 deliveries which looked like a daunting task, Andre Russell had the strike with him for the last two deliveries.
Just when things were looking in favour of the Amazon Warriors Neesham bowled a full toss, which resulted in a boundary over the covers. The batting team now needed a six of the final ball of the innings to register a win. He bowled a length delivery which was dispatched over the mid-wicket boundary for a six for an emphatic win.
Andre Russell the superman from Jamaica never seems to stop amazing the crowd when it comes to T20 encounters be it with the ball or the bat, the all-rounder contributes to the team whole heartedly. It’s like T20 and Russell go hand in hand in unison.
