The Indo-Australian contest has never been short of rivalries and this spices up every encounter between both the teams. The modern day Ashwin v Maxwell clash is something the fans look forward to.

There’s always been a competition whenever these two players lock horns ever since the 2013 series between India and Australia. While Maxwell has got the better of Ashwin numerous times in the IPL, Ashwin has done well against him during international encounters, thus constantly bringing the audience into splits.

Ashwin was not having a great day as he bowled poorly in his first spell conceding 48 in his first 5 overs. But bowled a lot better when brought back. In what was expected to be a humdinger of a contest, Ashwin again won the battle of wits against Maxwell.

In the 44th over, when the face off happened, Australia were well on course of the game. Ashwin bowled consecutive dot balls which was followed by a boundary blasted by Maxwell past covers. A glare followed and that entertained the crowd in the stands. Ashwin tried to float up on the stumps next ball as Maxwell stepped out of the crease to smash Ashwin but ended up finding the fielder.

In the end, India lost the match, but it was enthralling to watch another entertaining contest between the two. With four matches yet to go, both have ample opportunities of having a go on one another along with guiding their respective teams to victory.
