Unlike most cricketing entertainers from the West Indies, Ben Stokes chooses to entertain with his on-field antics. Whether it is with the bat or ball, Stokes is a gem of a player. However, the lanky and gritty all-rounder was ruled out of the recently concluded Test series against the Sri Lankans after sustaining an injury in the first Test match.

In spite of having been replaced by Chris Woakes for the remainder of the series, Stokes stuck to the group of players and travelled with the team on the tour. Whether he travelled as a cheerleader or as a part of his rehab process will never be known to the public. However, things came to a halt on the fourth day of the third Test match between England and Sri Lanka at the home of cricket – the Lord’s.

Just for something different, Stokes assimilated with the fans and took a seat among the massive gathering present at the main pavilion at the Lord’s. Donning his trademark England tracksuit and jumper, Stokes made his way to an empty seat beside an elderly woman, wearing an umpire’s sunhat with the three lions. It was only natural that she would request him for a picture.

However, when she did, little did she know about the ‘selfie’ function on her mobile phone. What followed was a crash course from Ben Stokes, showing her how to use the selfie function to good effect. The bamboozled woman watched as Stokes finally decided to take matters into his own hands and to take the picture himself, much to the amusement of Mike Atherton and others stationed at the commentary box.

England went on to draw the Lord’s Test against the Lankans and eventually won the series 2-0.
