Watch: Dale Steyn take the best catch of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: The Pakistan vs South Africa was must win match for the Pakistan team and they lost the toss on the important occasion. AB de Villiers elected to bowl first in the match where rain was expected to play a role. Early into the match, the Pak openers looked to play out the initial phase of movement and then take the charge.
At 30 in 8.3 over’s Ahmad Shehzad took Kyle Abbott on, on the fourth delivery; the ball lobbed into the air towards no mans’ land but the fielder at mid-on Dale Steyn saw at it as an opportunity to get the team their first break through.
The fast bowler sprinted with his eyes on the ball, we all know how quick Steyn is on his feet and there was a moment in this chase when he knew the ball was further away from his reach and then he decided to commit himself into the catch.
A dive from your premium fast bowler to get the team an important wicket is what can charge up the entire team. Steyn perfectly judged the dive, and grabbed the ball out of thin air, as we often see a jolt to the elbow spills the ball out from the hands and to complete a clean catch Steyn pulled his left hand in the air symbolizing that he had caught it clean.
With this wonderful piece of athletic fielding and smart catching Shehzad had to make his way back early into Pakistan’s innings. We have not yet seen a catch which can be rated better than this in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Hence till that time we pronounce this as the best catch.
