The series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh has been quite an interesting one with some entertaining matches been played. Bangladesh won the first One Day International between the two cricketing nations while the second one failed to produce any result. Sri Lanka would be now hoping to win the third and final One Day International, which is already underway, and level the series whereas Bangladesh would look to clinch the same 2-0.

In the third ODI at Colombo, Sri Lanka started the match decently and were batting at 135-2 when Dinesh Chandimal got himself run out in a bizarre way. The batsman played the ball on the off side of Shakib Al Hasan’s bowling and looked for a couple of runs.

The Sri Lankan pair ran the first run hard but Chandimal was two lethargic while returning back for the second as he chose to jog to the striker’s end. Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed collected the ball on the off side and was quick to throw it back to his wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim.

Rahim was equally alert of Chandimal’s poor running and dislodged the bails as soon as he received the ball. By that time Chandimal already reached the striker’s end but his foot and bat were in the air when they bails were dislodged. The decision went to the third umpire who after taking some close views at the incident declared Chandimal out. Sri Lanka lost their third wicket due to carelessness as Chandimal departed for a score of 21 despite getting off to a start.

The run out was really a funny one and it was one of the rarest incidents on a cricket field you will ever see. Meanwhile Bangladesh has been excellent on the field throughout the series as this was the sixth run out the team has managed so far in the same.
