There ain’t a better sight in world cricket than a fast bowler bringing down a batsman with a yorker that’s right on the money. Pakistan fast bowler Hassan Ali did something similar in the game against World XI and Darren Sammy was at the receiving end of a mind boggling delivery.
Sportsmanship of the highest order
In the final over of the match, World XI needed 34 runs to win the contest and Hassan Ali had the ball in hand. His over kick started with a crunchy pull over deep midwicket for six and the equation boiled down to 28 off 5 balls. One good delivery was what the fans were praying for and Ali pulled off an absolute scorcher.
He hit the bull’s eye and the yorker was right on target and was coming into hit Sammy’s boot before he got some bat on it. He bowls at a good pace does the 23-year-old and the two-time World T20 winning skipper lost his footing and was on the floor. Sammy could do nothing but smile and applaud the brilliance of that delivery. Hassan Ali came over to help Sammy get back to his feet and there was no sight more beautiful than this in the entire game.
A resounding victory for the hosts
After World XI had won the toss and asked Pakistan to bat first, Babar Azam’s exploits left them cold and dry. It was a knock of the highest caliber and it thoroughly entertained the packed house at Lahore. Shoaib Malik’s vintage fireworks in the death overs powered Pakistan to a daunting 197 in their 20 overs.
Pakistani bowlers exhibited some unbelievable slower deliveries in the innings and it’d be fair to say they got the better of their opponents thanks to these back of the hand stuff from the faster men. The World XI batsmen found it really tough to get going and none of their batsmen crossed the 30-run mark in the innings, which throws light at the brilliant bowling rendition from Sarfaraz and his troops.
There were some amazing moments throughout this game like the World XI players taking a lap of honor around the stadium and Babar Azam’s vivaciously extravagant cricketing shots. But this wonderful exhibition of sportsmanship from Hassan Ali and Darren Sammy will rank number and here’s the video of the incident.
