Watch: ICC releases video of all WT20 champion teams

The International Cricket Council (ICC) released a compilation of all the World T20 champions in the event where they announced the schedule for the ICC World T20 2016, India. The clip features glorious photographs of the teams who have previously won the T20 mega event. The inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup was held in 2007. The MS Dhoni-led Indian team were the champions. Pakistan, who were the runner-ups in the first edition, won the 2009 event. Apart from these two Asian giants, England and West Indies have also won this tournament in 2010 and 2012 respectively.

Sri Lanka is currently the defending champions. The list of the champions strangely has one team’s name missing-Australia. This is the only major tournament which the ‘Kangaroo’ have not got their hands on. And, they will surely look forward to making it possible in the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 2016.

The tournament will take place in March next year in India. Matches will be hosted at Bangalore, Chennai, Dharamshala, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur and New Delhi. The final of the tournament will be played at the famous Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

The launch of the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 was held at the St. Regis hotel in Mumbai today. ICC Chairman Mr Shashank Manohar, ICC Chief Executive Mr David Richardson and BCCI Secretary Mr Anurag Thakur attended the event.

The ICC unveiled the logo, groups, schedule and other event-related details. After the conclusion of the unveiling, there was a panel discussion, which involved India batsmen Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane. The discussion was hosted by former India batsman and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar.
