Death bowling has been one of the weaker links of the Indian bowlers who are all set to challenge the World Champions in their own backyard. The wounds inflicted by AB de Villers & Co are still fresh within the minds of the Indian bowlers, who were carted all over the park in that decisive ODI at the Wankhede Stadium. With the presence of the likes of Glenn Maxwell and other big hitters the bowlers need to step up and get their yorkers going.

The yorker is exactly the weapon one can use effectively to bind a batsman’s bullish attitude towards the end of the innings. Every one can remember how Mitchell Starc effectively crushed the opponent batsmen during the death overs with toe-crushing yorkers in the last year’s World Cup, who’s absence will not be missed by the Indian batsmen. But the Indian bowlers, who are not the greatest practitioners of the art, are taking a cue from extremely good death bowlers currently over the world, and are practicing the art of effectively bowling a yorker.

In this video, we can see a net session of the Indian pace quartet, wherein they are solely concentrating on the art of getting the yorker correct. Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Barindar Sran and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar; the Indian pace battery is trying to target the batsman’s shoe to get the yorkers correct.

Indian bowlers have an uncanny tendency to bowl half volleys and full tosses towards the death overs while trying to get the yorker correct, and get smashed all over the park, garnering an unwanted reputation of being the “leakers” during the death overs. But hopefully the relatively young pace attack gets their act together during the series, and this practice session definitely shows they are on the right track.
