Fast bowler Ishant Sharma took a fine catch avoiding a collision with team-mate Virat Kohli in the 4th ODI against Australia at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Wednesday. Ishant, who had dropped a sitter in the 2nd ODI in Brisbane, held on to a tricky catch with Kohli that close to him.
Australian opener Aaron Finch who received a good length ball on off stump from pacer Umesh Yadav went for the pull shot but the ball bounced and took the outside half of his bat. It lobbed up in the air and Ishant ran from mid-on, even as Kohli from midwicket was running back. The tall fast bowler kept his eyes on the ball made the catch look easy. It was a big wicket and a very timely one for India as Finch was batting on 107 and looking to clear the ropes.
Virat seemed to have a few words to tell Ishant and even seemed bemused. It was all on a lighter note though as the team celebrated the important wicket. Finch top-scored in Australia’s mammoth score of 348/8. Ishant took 4 wickets but was taken to the cleaners by Glenn Maxwell and ended up conceding 77 runs from his 10 overs. India in reply was going strong at one stage being 277/1 before committing some suicidal mistakes with the bat. The Indian innings witnessed tons from opener Shikhar Dhawan and Kohli, however, the team was bowled out for 323 in 49.2 in a disappointing finish.
