Hobart Hurricanes went head to head today against Adelaide Strikers with a hope of keeping their contention in the BBL alive. The Hurricanes, however, put up an ordinary batting show and let the Strikers bowlers take hold of the match early on by restricting them for just 143 in 19.3 over.
The Strikers reply was dull. They batted cautiously and rarely looked to have a grip over the match. The game was clinging in the favor of either sides till the last over. Tim Ludeman batted till the end for the 57 run knock but, it did not have any startling impact on the Hurricanes bowlers at any stage of the chase. The equation was brought to 10 runs off the last six deliveries. The well set Ludeman once again stunned everyone by opting for a single and giving strike to a new batsman Ales Ross. Situation intensified for the Strikers when Ross was dismissed after taking two double off consecutive delivery.
The new batsman Jake Lehmann, twirled his mustache while entering the field at a crunch moment. When the pressure mounts on, the best in the business get crushed under it but Lehmann jr showed the crowd that he isn’t among the ones who can shine under pressure.
Ludeman was on the strike as a result of Ross’s wicket and took a single off the second last ball of the decisive over to hand Lehmann the strike. Lehmann then gave the nail-biting contest a perfect finish. Four runs were required off the last ball and Lehmann Jr. lofted a length ball wide outside the off-stump from Milenko towards mid-off for a match-winning six and finished the match.
