England have had a tough time in the Test series against India. This is perhaps the only reason why their premier batsman Joe Root does not want to skip any practice sessions. England have been thoroughly beaten and outplayed by the Indian team. They started off well with a convincing draw in the first Test. A lot was expected from them since they had put their first foot right.

However, three consecutive defeats since then have seen them go 3-0 down in the series with a game to play. Knowing the English team, it is certain that they would want to come out all guns blazing in the final match. The fifth Test will be their last chance to savour some pride in the lacklustre Test series thus far. But it was the nature that was against them on the occasion. The recent cyclone Vardah has affected the Indian coasts in a fatal way.

The devastating build up in the city has forced the England team to cancel their practice sessions owing to poor weather conditions in the city. The BBC Test match special confirmed the same news a couple of days ago on their official Twitter handle. They wrote, “England have cancelled practice tomorrow because ground is unfit after cyclone. Organisers say confident Test will go ahead #bbccricket.”

Despite the nets being cancelled, batsman Joe Root looked unfazed. The star English batsman decided to have a bit of a practice on the streets of Chennai. He was seen padded up and batting on the roads. The ECB official Twitter handle posted a video of the same on the social media.

Joe Root has arguably been the most successful batsman for England on the tour so far. He struck a brilliant ton at Rajkot and has had occasional fifties every now and then. Well, truth be told, Root and Jonny Bairstow have been doing the bulk of scoring for England in the series. It would have been better to see the other English batsmen get a go with the bat.
