Former England batsman Jonathan Trott has named his All Time XI in association with Lord’s Cricket Ground and their YouTube channel. A multiple-time Ashes winner, Trott was a distinguished batsman in his day. Making his presence felt with the bat, Trott is known for his outstanding innings in Melbourne in the 2010 edition of the Ashes. However, a terrible dip in form coupled with a few injury niggles eventually saw Trott take the bow into international retirement.

Speaking about the best players he had played with in a bid to name his All-Time XI, Trott was in no doubt whatsoever when he named current England skipper Alastair Cook as the opening batsman. Trott went on to name former Australian opener Michael Slater and also stated that Slater was someone whom he idolized and looked up to while growing up. Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, and Jacques Kallis complete the middle-order while Jonathan Trott added that Tendulkar was the perfect example of the perfect cricketer in his eyes.

The former England batsman of South African descent also went on to name former Aussie skipper Steve Waugh as the skipper of his side stating that Waugh was perhaps one of the best captains Australia ever had. As has been the case with most of the All time XI’s named thus far, Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne are also named in the side as the spin twins.

From his days back in Warwickshire, Trott has played with the likes of Allan Donald and Waqar Younis, perhaps the greatest players in the cricketing generation just before the one he is from. Needless to say, Trott had absolutely no problem in naming them in his XI.

Trott’s XI: Steve Waugh (C), Adam Gilchrist (WK), Alastair Cook, Michael Slater, Ricky Pointing, Sachin Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis, Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan, Waqar Younis, Allan Donald
