Watch: Kaif takes a classic catch to turn the game towards India: Mohammad Kaif took a brilliant catch towards end of Pakistan’s innings during a huge chase, part of 2004 tour in an ODI which turned the match towards India. As a result India won the nail biting game by 5 runs.

Indians were put into bat by Pakistan in the 1st ODI of the 5-match series at Karachi scored 349 in 50 overs for loss of 7 wickets with help of Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid’s fifties. Later, in the chase of huge total, Pakistan were placed at 340 for 6 in 48.4 overs with help of Inzaman-ul-Haq and Yousuf Youhana’s heroics.

With 10 needing of 8 balls, Shoiab Malik tried to loft Zaheer Khan’s delivery towards long on but miscued it, which came down very well inside boundary and Hemag Badani, the fielder at long-on ran to take the catch but Mohammad Kaif, from nowhere racing from long-off took a brilliant catch almost by colliding with Badani.

However, Badani didn’t got injured and Kaif took the catch safely to see Malik retuning to the pavilion. Pakistan could only manage 4 runs in the next 7 balls as India sneak to a close victory by 5 runs, with Kaif’s catch turned out be crucial moment in the match.
