Wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal has recently been out of the Pakistan national side as Sarfraz Ahmed’s consistent performances have given him the nod over the senior Akmal. A good performance in the ongoing BPL 3 may keep him in the reckoning for the T20I World Cup 2016 in India. Akmal though, playing his first game this season has started on a bad note, being dismissed for a golden duck.

The right-hander punched a short of the length delivery toward mid-on and went for a quick single. It appeared to be an easy single however Akmal made it difficult for himself by not doing two things- running straight and with intent. He was out run out as a brilliant direct hit from the ever alert Kevon Cooper proved fatal for him.

The bowler Mohammad Sami went straight in his follow through however Akmal had the opportunity of running close to the edge of the pitch instead kept going away from it. By the time the ball shattered the stumps, he found himself two pitches away from the actual playing surface!

Akmal was also very lazy, especially during the last leg of the run. He didn’t bother to stretch himself and ground the bat instead kept it in the air. What should have been an easy single turned into a schoolboy error from an international cricket.

Chasing a target of 170 his team Chittagong Vikings fell short by 33 runs as the Barisal Bulls won a fairly one-sided contest. Greater intent is expected from overseas players like Kamal Akmal and this run out must have surely disappointed his team.
