Watch: Lacklustre Axar Patel makes MS Dhoni lose his cool

“Captain Cool” MS Dhoni was angry last night during the 4th ODI against New Zealand in front of his home crowd in his hometown Ranchi. Dhoni isn’t someone who shows emotions on the field and is generally calm in tense situations. It is quite a well knock fact that his ice-cool attitude has helped him to stay composed and help India emerge triumphant on numerous occasions. But, last night fans at the JSCA Stadium, Ranchi saw the rare ‘angry’ side of Dhoni.

The incident happened in the 47th over when left-arm spinner Axar Patel’s laidback fielding effort and an irresponsible throw thereafter caused India give away one extra run to the Kiwis. The first ball of the over, a fuller one from Dhawal Kulkarni, flicked to the leg side by Anton Devcich.

With a man stationed at long – on, Devcich and Mitchell Santner would have managed just a single run. Patel ran in gently to collect the ball and threw it to the bowler’s end. The throw, unfortunately, wasn’t inaccurate and deviated after pitching to miss both Kulkarni and Rahane and giving the Kiwis an opportunity to steal another quick single. Dhoni was obsolutely miffed with this. fielding effort. later, withing few second, his temperature soared after seeing Axar grinning after the blunder. He was definitely not amused.

The incident proves one fact that he can tolerate any pressure while playing but a lack of commitment cannot be tolerated. Dhoni prides himself in playing for the country and wants everyone to share the same enthusiasm. We hope Axar would keep the cold stare in his mind the next time he thinks about putting a lax effort while fielding and grinning afterwards.
