Watch: Luke Wright gets out hit wicket in BBL 5: The 5th season of the Big Bash League (BBL) has got off to an exciting start. The second match this mega event witnessed an unusual as the home side Adelaide Strikers and the Melbourne Stars. Chasing a target of 188, the Stars got off to a rollicking start courtesy their openers Marcus Stoinis and Luke Wright. Stoinis in particular looked in murderous mood as the score went past 50 in the batting power play. The talking point arrived in the next over as Englishman Luke Wright got out against the run of play.

Luke Wright played back to a ball from countryman Adil Rashid, so much so that he didn’t realize how deep he was in his crease. The leg-spinner had darted the ball into his pads and Wright, looking to work it towards square leg, went too far behind which resulted in his back foot clipping the leg stump. Wright made 13 off 12 including 1 four as the majority of the strike was taken by Stoinis. The Stars ultimately finished with a disappointing 167/7 from their 20 overs thereby losing the match by 21 runs.

Earlier in the evening, the Strikers made a stellar comeback from 64/4 at one stage in 9.4 overs. Half-centuries from veteran captain Brad Hodge and Alex Ross helped them post a huge total of 187/5 which paved way beyond the reach of the visitors. The Stars had a power packed batting lineup that included the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Glenn Maxwell and skipper David Hussey, however, they failed to impress when it mattered the most.
