Before smashing 59 against England in the warm-up match, Rahkeem Cornwall was a relatively unknown quantity. He was massive and weighed a lot, something that cricket fans across the world associate only with the likes of Dwayne Leverock of Bermuda. However, despite all of this, Cornwall is a massively accomplished batsman. His big hitting prowess coupled with those budgy arms are something the Windies can look forward to while picking their T20 intrnational squad in the future.

However, usually, when someone as impressive as Cornwall takes center stage, it is quite clear that something interesting is going to happen. The West Indies Board President’s XI picked Cornwall perhaps on the basis of his performance in the match against the Windward Islands wherein he blasted an audacious 74 and remained unbeaten whilst guiding his side to victory.

Playing for the Leeward Islands, Cornwall made his way out to bat at what seemed to be a difficult time for his side. With the likes of Kieran Powell out, it was up to the big man to ensure that the victory was something that was certainly within the reach of his side.

For the most part of Rahkeem Cornwall’s innings, it was mainstream stand and deliver cricket, something that made him somewhat seem like Kieron Pollard. However, the manner in which he batted was also something that one could take a not of by virtue of him smashing sixes with just one heave and one shoulder tug. Should he continue performing this way, Cornwall’s future in West Indies cricket is certainly something to look forward to.
