Watch: Mohammad Nawaz bowls the ball of the tournament

Marvelous! That’s how one can describe Brad Hodge’s dismissal yesterday. The man who effected the dismissal was Mohammad Nawaz who left everyone in awe with his superb effort. The wonderful moment came during the Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators clashed in the 1st qualifier of the Pakistan Super League.

Chasing 134 to win, the Zalmi side lost a couple of early wickets. Mohammad Nawaz came in the 6th over of the match and immediately created his impact on the match with a twin strike off the first two delivery of the match. He first beat Mohammad Hafeez with an arm ball to clean bowl him. Hafeez was left surprised the pace.

However, it was the next delivery which stunned the crowd. Nawaz castled Brad Hodge, Twenty20 cricket’s current second-highest run-maker, with a sharp turning ball. The ball dipped, broke away, and hit the off stumps to shift the tempo into Gladiators’ side.

Hodge did not expect such amount of turn. Hodge had covered the line of the ball. But the ball turned away sharply upon pitching and beat the edge as he watched the ball knock back his off stump. Nawaz finished with the figures of 3/27 after snapping up Darren Sammy in his last over of the spell.

The match became more interesting as it progressed as the Gladiators and Zalmi fought out till the last over of the match. Eventually, The Quetta side managed to defend the target and win the nail-biting contest closely by one run.
