Not many cricket fans have seen MS Dhoni celebrate much. Regarded as a rather calm customer, Dhoni has been seldom seen celebrating the fall of a wicket. Most would agree that the last MS Dhoni celebration came in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
However, the Indian skipper’s at the fall of Glenn Maxwell’s wicket will be cherished by many MS Dhoni followers for years to come. Yuvraj Singh was entrusted with the task of bowling to perhaps the most dangerous batsman in the world. Having bowled a fine over, Maxwell was to face the final ball of the Yuvraj Singh over.
Anticipating that Maxwell would come down the wicket, Yuvraj changed his line, bowling a bit wider than usual. Maxwell, who missed the ball completely, was comprehensively stumped by the Indian skipper. Apart from the magnificent glove work from Dhoni, all eyes were fixed on the Indian captain.
The dismissal of the explosive Aussie pleased Dhoni to such an extent that he was seen charging towards Yuvraj Singh with the odd hop and skip in his step. The winner of multiple cricketing tournaments both internationally and domestically, MS Dhoni has seldom shown any sort of emotions in all of them. That said, many will remember India’s victory today at Melbourne and one of the reasons will definitely be MS Dhoni’s celebration.
The Indians clinched a thrilling 27 run victory over the Aussies. The win also means that the Indians have also clinched the 3 match T20I series with the third match to be played on Sunday at the SCG. Incidentally, this is MS Dhoni’s first series win in over a year.
