It’s been almost 8 years since one of India’s most successful captains, Sourav Ganguly retired from international cricket. He played his 100th Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) against Australia that too on the Boxing Day in 2007.
Ganguly did well in the all important Test though didn’t get a significant score but hit 43 and 40 in the two innings respectively, losing his wicket to Brad Hogg both the times. It wasn’t as much memorable for him as India went on to lose the game by a thumping 337 runs.
Before the match, there was a video interview where MS Dhoni was asked to express his views and feelings over Ganguly’s 100th Test. Dhoni known for his cool attitude gave the interview in his very casual attire.
He described how excited he was on his debut to meet Dada, as he was fondly called by teammates. Dhoni made his debut in 2004 against Bangladesh under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly.
MS Dhoni lauded Ganguly for his contribution to Indian cricket with the bat and also recounted his fearless captaincy that helped Indian cricket scale new highs. He also described how different a person Ganguly was than the one media portrayed.
