Watch: Munaweera mercilessly smashes Dilshan for 6 fours in an over

In the 3rd match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier league between Sylhet Super Stars v Chittagong Vikings, Sri Lankan player Dilshan Munaweera batted very well for a 30-ball blitzkrieg innings of 64 runs. Chittagong Vikings started the second innings with a target of 180 runs to chase in that match.

In the second over, Munaweera pushed the accelerator as he knew there was a tough target in front of his team. Tillakaratne Dilshan was brought in to bowl the second over and opener Munaweera was facing him. Munaweera saw an opportunity and launched an attack smashing Dilshan for 6 fours in the over. It was the biggest highlight of the match.

The 1st ball was flicked over square leg; the next ball was hit over fine leg. The 3rd ball was lofted over the long-off region. It was a hat-trick of boundaries for Munaweera now. But he did not stop there. The Sri Lankan played a hard slog over midwicket off the 4th ball which also resulted in a boundary. It was high in the air and Jeevan Mendis had a chance to put a halt on Munaweera’s onslaught. However, he dropped the catch. The last two ball of the over also met with a similar result. The 5th ball was hit in the same region but this time the velocity of the ball did not even allow the fielder come nearer. The 6th and the last ball was a full toss which was driven comfortably through mid-off for sixth consecutive four of the over. Eventually, he reached his 50 off just 22 balls.

Earlier in the match during the first innings, T. Dilshan had hit Munaweera for four consecutive boundaries. Well, Munaweera did not take that treatment lightly and obviously took revenge in a more unsympathetic way. Nevertheless, it was a very entertaining over which led to an even more entertaining knock. The crowd in the stadium thoroughly enjoyed the batting display from the Sri Lankan.
