Watch: Nathan Bracken bowl a beauty to dismiss Chris Gayle: Nathan Bracken single-handedly led Australia in the 2006 Champions Trophy final against West Indies. West Indies was cracking boundaries with a run rate of 8.42 at the score of 80-2 in the 9th over against their competitor for the title, Australia.
The batsman in the middle was the mighty Chris Gayle and that is when Nathan Bracken bowled a beauty to the Boss knocking off the stumps. Bowling his 3rd ball of the over, Bracken’s in line delivery on the off stump went on to hit the wickets blowing off the bail.
Chris Gayle departed after scoring 37 runs on a beauty that deceived him as he came on the front foot to play the ball but missed it by few inches. The ball pitching on-line on the off stump eventually did the magic for the Australian side and a huge damage to the West Indies team.
Australia finished with a win by 8 wickets after the application of the Duckworth Lewis method. Bracken began with a crack, grabbing 3 early wickets dismissing the significant top order trio of Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Chris Gayle and Ramnaresh Sarwan cheaply and bringing the Caribbean innings to an end in the 30th over for a paltry score of 138 runs.
