Watch: Pakistan counters Star Sports Indian ICC World Cup 2015 ad campaign: The Star Sports Network which is the official broadcaster of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 is banking on India and the Indian cricket crazy fans to get them high on viewership. No wonder Star Sports recently came up with an ad campaign for the India vs Pakistan World Cup clash. This was their second advertisement favoring India after they already aired the one staring most of the Indian players and with the slogan and hash tag of #WontGiveItBack.
The ad was received warmly by the Indian fans who enjoyed it every bit as it shows a Pakistan fan back in Lahore sitting in front of his television with a box of fireworks and walks back dejected when Pakistan lose to India in the world cup. It shows him walk back as many times as they have lost and in the end he sits on his sofa with his son, the firecrackers still lying there unused and that he is waiting for the epic clash on the 15th of February.
Star Sports failed to notice but this did not go well with the sentiments of Pakistan fans and since its launch it has drawn anger from them. Though they have failed to deliver on the field a Pakistan news channel Samaa TV in its bid to retaliate to the campaign has launched its version of success video, moments where their team has had the better of India.
It shows the six Javed Miandad hit of Chetan Sharma on the last ball to win Pakistan the Australasia Cup final at Sharjah in 1986 along with Aqib Javed’s LBW hat-trick which he captured in the 1991 Sharjah Cup final. We also get to see glimpses of Saeed Anwar’s knock of 194 he struck at Chennai in 1997 during the Independence Cup. And it finishes with the last over sixes Shahid Afridi clustered against India in the Asia Cup.
This is a lame attempt not that these games were not important but it is surely no match. One has to accept the fact that when we are talking about World Cup India has always had the better of Pakistan until 2011. Watch this video and we leave it to your wisdom to decide the fairness of this ad
