Watch: R Ashwin bowls the ball of the year to Simon Harmer: Ravichandran Ashwin saved his best delivery for his South African counterpart, Simon Harmer, as he bowled the ” ball of the year” to rattle his stumps. Ashwin’s switched to his alternate weapon the carrom ball, the delivery that turns the other way, pitched it well outside the leg stump while Harmer thought it would do little harm to him and tried to shape it on the on-side for a single.

Dean Elgar was cleaned up by Ravichandran Ashwin early morning, while skipper Hashim Amla’s drought for runs continues, as he departed for 1 off Ashwin. AB de Villiers playing his 101st Test match couldn’t save the team from the blues either, as he was wrapped for a duck, with Ravindra Jadeja taking a catch of his own bowling. The scoreboard read 12/5 at that stage.

Faf du Plessis felt the pressure, and Jadeja did the rest. South Africa were tottering at 36/6, as the Indian bowlers started their domination. The entire innings was wrapped up for 79 and South Africa found themselves in hot water. Ashwin and Jadeja shared 9 wickets between them. The offie picked up another 5-wicket haul while Jadeja scalped 4 wickets for 33 runs. JP Duminy top-scored for the visitors with a fighting 35 runs, courtesy a couple of sixes and a boundary.
