Watch: Ravindra Jadeja brilliantly runs out Josh Hazlewood in MS Dhoni style

Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja has been an exceptional performer for India especially with the ball in the recent past and has been instrumental in India’s consistent success in their long home season. In the ongoing Test match at the JSCA Sports Complex Ground in Ranchi against Australia, Jadeja has been the only bright spot for India till now.

The visitors batted superbly on the opening day and carried on from where they left on the 2nd day too. Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell batted superbly and shared a brilliant 5th wicket partnership which ensured Australia posted a big 1st innings total on the board. Jadeja who dismissed David Warner on the first day produced some magical deliveries on the 2nd day which helped the hosts to restrict the visitors under 500.

In the fag end of the morning session, Jadeja dismissed Matthew Wade and Pat Cummins in quick succession to give the crowd something to cheer. His 8th five-wicket haul came in the 136th over when Nathan Lyon jabbed a straighter delivery straight into the silly point fielder. Despite Australia’s brilliance with the bat, Jadeja’s five-wicket haul, especially on a pitch not conducive for either the pacers nor the spinners, deserves special mention.

It’s very difficult to keep Jadeja out of the game and it was evident yet another time when the last Australian wicket fell. As Steve Smith flicked towards the leg side, the duo completed the single easily. In an attempt to go for a double Smith pushed Hazlewood and the right arm pacer obliged.

He put in a valiant effort but brilliance from Jadeja prevented him from completing the run. It was a perfect throw from KL Rahul as Jadeja under-armed the ball towards the stump. It was a terrific presence of mind from the all-rounder and it reminded all and sundry of a certain MS Dhoni who is the best in the business in carrying out these unique dismissals.
