Watch: Sachin getting out on wrong decisions in 3 consecutive matches: Sachin Tendulkar, commonly known as the victim of umpiring faults as the decisions judge him out turned out to be wrong on numerous occasions. Taking it to another level, he had a bizarre tour of Sri Lanka in 2009 where he played in the 1st 3 ODI matches of the 5-match series and was trapped in front of stumps in all the games. However, replays showed that umpires judged Sachin wrongly out on all 3 occasions.
1st ODI: In reply to Sri Lanka’s 246, Indians started slowly with Sachin Tendulkar batting on 5 off 15 balls. Then came a troubling delivery from Thilan Thushara which struck on Sachin’s pads and Sri Lanka’s ex-cricketer, Kumar Dharmasena who was making his debut as Umpire judged it as ‘Out’. However, the replays shown that the ball pitched outside leg stump. As a result, Dharmasena’s first decision as Umpire turned out to be a blunder.
2nd ODI: After choosing to bat first, India got a similar start like in the chase during the 1st ODI. When Sachin was batting on 6 off 10 balls, an in-swinging delivery from Nuwan Kulashekara struck in front of Sachin’s pads and umpire Brian Jerling ruled it as out. However, Hawkeye replays confirmed that the ball would have went on to miss the leg stump by a fair margin.
3rd ODI: Sachin, who had 2 poor decisions in first two games decided to take over the bowlers as he struck a Six over long-on coming down the ground. But not so soon an incoming delivery from Dilhara Fernado hit on Tendulkar’s pad and umpire Gamini Silva given it as out as a result Sachin walked back for just 7, recording sequential scores in the 3 games. Replays in this game as well showed that the ball would have went on to miss the leg stump.
