Sri Lankan batting great Sanath Jayasuriya who is also the chief selector of the Sri Lankan national team was in India to launch a book ‘A Tall Order’ written by Kapil Pathare. Having known the author for a long time and impressed by the way he selected the players and presented in his book which is dedicated to his late father Jayasuriya decided to fly from Sri Lanka to launch it.

At the event while talking to the Quint, the Matara Mauler also talked about Indian cricketers in quite a detail. When asked about the most dangerous Indian bowler he faced Sanath said, “For me it’s Anil Kumble. He had a lot of variations and he was a thinking bowler, always tried to look into the weakness of his opponent and he is a smart cricketer.”

He was a nightmare for the bowling fraternity, opening the batting he could set panic in the minds of the bowlers just with the way he kicked off the innings. But Jayasuriya thinks Sachin Tendulkar was the most dangerous Indian batsman. “The most dangerous was always Sachin. He handled and absorbed pressure really well and the way he played.”

Having played international cricket for such a long time and we all know India and Sri Lanka have been favorite opponents for one another, players do start getting along well and develop a report. Adding to that Sanath also played the Indian Premier League where he was a part of the Mumbai Indians and opened the batting with the master blaster. Talking about his pals in the Indian team he said, “I played IPL with Sachin, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan, so these three are very close to me because I played with them in the Mumbai Indians.”

When the 47-year-old was asked about the best looking cricketers among Indians he immediately named Yuvraj Singh. “Yuvraj was an attractive cricketer.” And was he inspired by Virender Sehwag, the way he batted and just ripped through the opposition right at the start of play. “He (Sehwag) is another attractive cricketer and the way he played aggressively, I liked him.”
