Watch: Sangakkara’s Unbelievable Stumping to dismiss Jimmy Maher: We all have witnessed the spinning brilliance of Muttiah Muralitharan. Indeed he was one of the intensified spinners of the ball but what made him even more dangerous is the possession of a world-class wicket keeper behind the stumps to keep his deliveries. Yes, we are talking about Kumar Sangakkara. Sangakkara has been one of the ecstatic wicket keepers in world cricket. With 402 catches backed by 99 stumpings, Sangakkara was indeed one of the most sensational wicket keepers of all time.
In this very video, we can see a token of such magnified brilliance from the former Sri Lankan captain from behind the stumps.
It was a match in the VB series held at the Brisbane Cricket Ground in January, 2003. Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka struggled with their batting and did not find much of a rhythm with the bat. Finally, with a brilliant cameo of 42 runs from Sangakkara, Sri Lanka managed to pose a total of 211 runs.

Defending 212 runs against the strength of a stern batting line up of the Aussies was no easy task. And as expected, the Australians started with a bang. The openers in the likes of Jimmy Maher and Mathew Hayden were off to a sensational start for the Aussies. It was in the 14th over of the innings when a tossed up off-spinner was bowled by Muralitharan. And it deceived Maher, who stepped out of the crease. And Sangakkara had the opportunity to stump but the ball spun a lot and he had to dive to his left to collect the ball and on the fall, he threw the ball while he was still in the air and with acute touch of reflexive action, the bails were dislodged. This got Sri Lanka the first breakthrough in the Australian innings at the score of 76 runs.
However, Australia managed to win the match eventually by a margin of 4 wickets with 7 balls remaining.
