Watch: Shahid Afridi plays a scintillating knock in BPL

Shahid Afridi, the Pakistan T20I captain is one of the game’s biggest hitters and a mercurial character. A magnetic crowd-puller, he is one of the high profile crickets to feature in the Bangladesh Premier League 2015.

Much is expected from him as he looks to produce some breathtaking performances for the fans in Bangladesh. Having missed the initial matches in BPL due to national duties against England, Afridi joined his team Sylhet Super Stars a couple of days back and played his first match on Wednesday.

‘BOOM BOOM’, as he is popularly known, did not disappoint his fans in his first appearance. He lived up to the expectation and played a brilliant knock when his team needed it the most. Batting first the Sylhet outfit had lost 4 wickets for just 22 runs on the board and was in desperate need of a big knock from the experienced campaigner.

Afridi who knows only one way to bat decided to take on the bowlers right from the word go. He started with 2 fours and a six and made his intentions clear. His team kept losing wickets on a regular basis however Afridi continued hammering the bowlers to all parts of the ground.

Particularly known for being strong on the leg side, he hit some monstrous sixes and kept the crowd entertained. He was dropped on 25 and made the most of this life. His attacking knock of 62 off just 41 balls included 5 fours and 4 sixes. He helped his team reach a fighting total of 139 which unfortunately didn’t prove enough in the end.
