Watch: Shane Watson’s most comic dismissal: Australian opener Shane Watson witnessed the most comical dismissal of his 10-year career in the T20I match against England. Watson would have wished he learnt his football lessons better, after getting out in that manner.
Thwarted Watson struggling with his recent form walked back to the dressing room still taking grasp of what had happened.
His weakness with the pads is quite a famous tale, after his 30 lbw dismissals. Watson’s pads have always found their way between the ball and the wicket but in the only T20I match between Australia and England, the failure of his pads hindrance led to an ironical dismissal.
Watson defended a Steve Finn delivery but it instead moved behind his bat and to Watto’s horror bumped towards the stumps. He kept looking at the ball alarmingly as it raced towards the stumps. The all-rounder tried kicking it away but failed as the ball remained untouched and continued its gentle pace towards the wickets knocking off the bails in the end. The Australian all-rounder along with his cricket certainly needs to brush up his football skills. The teasing ball took away his wicket and remorseful Watson walked back to the dressing room scoring just 8 runs, which counts as another batting failure for him.
His heart would have skipped not one but several beats in the moment. In the end England won the match by 5 runs. His dismissal also went on to be the reason for many chuckles that rouse in the ground.
