Watch: Steve Smith dismisses KL Rahul in outstanding fashion

When we talk about natural sportsmen, Aussie skipper Steven Smith is the most perfect example you can put forward. Not only appreciated as one of the best batsmen of the current generation Steve Smith’s brilliant athleticism on the field is something which you do not see in everyday life. We saw another demonstration of his incredible flexibility as he took a mind blowing catch to dismiss the in-form Lokesh Rahul in the second innings of the second Test in Bangalore.

Indian opener KL Rahul had just crossed the half-century mark when he faced a Steeve O’Keefe delivery which got the better of him. The ball caught the edge of his bat and flew past the keeper and looked firm to beat the slip as well. But not everything goes past easy when Steve Smith is at the guard. And quite magnificently Smith stunned the world pulling off a jaw-dropping catch diving towards his right at full stretch. Body thrown into the air, one handed, minimum reaction time – the catch had everything to be labelled as world class.

The catch meant India lost their second wicket and the most in-form batsman in the team as the score stood at 84 for the loss of two wickets. Lokesh Rahul has however managed to score respectable runs in both the innings with 90 and 51 respectively.
Yet another wicket for bowler Steve O’Keefe as he continues his good form in the series and the Aussies look to have absolute control over the second Test as well.

This is just one of the many times captain Steven Smith has brought the roof down with his outstanding efforts on the field. He has not only shown consistency in fielding for the national team but we have also witnessed the same in the Indian Premier League. With the 10th edition of the IPL on the cards, Steve Smith is a natural boost for Rising Pune Supergiants alongside Mahendra Singh Dhoni and other star performers.
