Watch: The most famous blow ups in Cricket: Over the years Cricket has provided some great moments which are etched in the fans memory. Emotions, flair and fervor, a cricket match is filled with all these ingredients. From the funny run outs to on field spats there is a hell lot which goes on apart from the contest between the cherry and the willow. These events not only spice up things in the middle but also attract eyeballs from every corner. There have been many such incidents which provide for a laugh riot to fans and experts alike.
The video below shows a compilation of some of the most talked about cricket controversies on the field of cricket. Michael Slater, Michael Vaughan and Ian Healy lend their voices to discuss the compilation.
The first one is Javed Miandad threatening to blow off Dennis Lillee’s head after the latter poked him with his leg. This was during the 1981 Perth Test. Miandad was taking a single when Lillee turned around and got in the way. He claimed that Miandad struck him on his back with the bat. Lillee kicked Miandad flush on his thigh in full view of the umpire at the non-striker’s end. Miandad then, lifted his bat to strike Lillee, and was stopped mid-way by the desperate umpire Tony Crafter.
In the second one Ricky Ponting was furious at having being run out by England’s 12th man Gary Prathley in the 2005 Ashes. He was not happy at England coach Duncan Fletcher for using the substitute rule to his advantage and said a few words to Duncan on his way to the dressing room.
In the third one Merv Hughes having had enough of a mad spectator at Johannesburg just threw his bat at the hoardings beyond which the man was standing. Tim May, the fellow batsman urged him to calm down and carry on with proceedings.
And the final one is worth a watch for sure because it involves one of the panelists Ian Healy. Playing against South Africa, Healey was given a rough one by the umpire as Dave Richardson, the current ICC CEO, appealed vehemently. Healey threw his bat on the stairs on his way to the change room. He was later handed a two game suspension. Get ready to witness the compilation.
