Watch: Umesh Yadav outclasses JP Duminy with a reverse swinging beauty

Watch: Umesh Yadav outclasses JP Duminy with a reverse swinging beauty: The batting performance by South Africa was no different from what it was in the last three Tests. They were very miserable and were bowled out for mere 121 runs. The only shining star in the first innings for the Proteas was AB de Villiers who stroked hard-earned 42 runs.

The pitch was expected to be very different from Nagpur and the assumption turned out right. To an extent, it offered assistance to the pacers and did not turn outrageously. The evidence to this fact being Kyle Abbott’s five-wicket haul at the cost of just 40 runs.

Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav also liked and had something to bowl to at Kotla. Both the pacers bowled in the 140’s and maintained discipline. Umesh Yadav (2/32) had a very satisfying performance, the first wicket being Dean Elgar and the second of JP Duminy. The second wicket was the better one among the two.

In the 31st over, the stumps took a hammering when JP Duminy completely missed the ball while trying to defend. Umesh Yadav bowled a 140.9 kph ball at the good length on the off stump line from around the wicket. The ball, instead of angling into the left hander, straightened due to the shiny part facing on the outer side.

The reverse swing caused Duminy to defend the ball in the wrong line. The ball, eventually, beat the outside edge of Duminy’s bat and hit the top of off-stump as AB de Villiers watched another team-mate fail in front of his eyes. This wicket was special for Yadav as it accounted to his 50th dismissal of his Test career.
