Team India Test skipper Virat Kohli seems to be hitting everything but the stumps on the field. A day after he had hit the helmet that conceded 5 runs penalty for the team, Kohli got his throw wrong yet again. This time the throw was even more wayward and could have ended up hitting the batsman. The action perspired on the day 2 of the ongoing fifth and final Test between India and England.
Virat Kohli is known for giving his hundred percent on the field. The dynamic skipper ran hard to chase the ball and was quick to release it too. However, batsman Liam Dawson came in the radar line of his throw. Fortunately for the English all-rounder, the consequences were not brutal. Dawson was quick to duck under the ball but was certainly not happy with the throw. The Hampshire all-rounder was then seen sharing a staring moment with the Indian skipper.
It was the 128th over of the England innings. Amit Mishra came in to bowl the fourth delivery as he drifted down the leg with his line. The batsman, Adil Rashid, tucked the ball down towards the fine leg region as he called for a quick single. Virat Kohli scampered through to collect the ball as the non striker batsman Liam Dawson ran in the danger end. Kohli gathered the ball and got rid of it quickly.
However, neither did his throw go towards the bowler’s end nor did it go towards the wicket keeper’s end. He threw it straight in the direction of Liam Dawson. Dawson, with his quick reflex, managed to escape the direct hit on his helmet. As the replays showed, Virat was quick to apologize for the throw. The on-field umpires had a word with Kohli about the throw between switching overs.
Liam Dawson looked visibly disgusted with the throw as Kohli showed a poker face. The official social media handle of the BCCI posted the video on the social media. They mockingly wrote, “Stay away from Virat Kohli’s firing line… A throw from Captain Kohli almost gets Dawson on the way. A bit of stares exchanged #INDvENG.” Watch the video here:
