India’s star batsman Virat Kohli is his top form over the last 18 months. He is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen of the current generation.
He took India into the semi-finals of the recently concluded World T20 at home. Virat also had a great run in the Asia Cup and Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. With 4 centuries in this edition of IPL, he became the first batsman to do so. He also led his franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) into the finals of the tournament, but unfortunately, they lost in the final by 8 runs to David Warner led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
In the World T20, he scored an epic 51-ball 82 which took India over the line against the arch-rivals Pakistan. He bowed down to Sachin Tendulkar at the stands during the match.
In a recent video interview with ICC, Virat said that all the comparisons should leave Tendulkar apart because he believes that no one else could inspire people like how he did. “I don’t see why people compare me with him because the way he played his cricket and the way he inspired people. I don’t think anyone else has been able to inspire people like that. Where he is, I think all the comparison should start leaving him aside. Even if people want to compare, he should be left apart, it should start from under him,” the Indian Test skipper said.

He said that it is humanly impossible to match-up with Sachin’s legacy. “I don’t intend to match up to the numbers that he has produced for India because it is humanly impossible to that you will be able to play that long period because he started at 16 firstly and then to be so consistent, you cannot guarantee that.”
