South African pace bowler Wayne Parnell got married to the fashion blogger Aisha Baker on Saturday in a private ceremony at Cape Town. The wedding ceremony took place at the Zeenatul Islam Mosque in the District Six at Cape Town.

The wedding was attended by approximately 400 guests and the couple is now ready to start their new beginning in life as a happy couple. However, Parnell will only have 3 days to spend with his wife since he has to join the South African squad for the tri-nation series in West Indies that begins on June 3. The series involves Australia, South Africa and the hosts West Indies.

The 26-year old South African tweeted, after his marriage, “What’s better in life than telling your parents how much you and appreciate them. In the presence of family, friends and The Almighty.”

The couple received special greetings from the Cricket South Africa (CSA) in a tweet: “Congrats Wayne Parnell & Aisha on their wedding yesterday! May you live happily ever after.” The wedding pictures of the couple are doing rounds on the social media and they have received many congratulatory messages from the fans.

The wedding might well bring the lady luck to the all-rounder who received a team recall for the tour. Earlier in 2011, Parnell had made the news for having been converted to Islam and reportedly changed his name to Muhammad Waleed. Back then, he had quoted that the decision to convert to Islam had come after a detailed introspection and the decision to change his faith was solely his own.

“I converted to Islam in January 2011, after a period of personal study and reflection and it is a faith that I have always been interested in,” Parnell had said in a statement after conversion.

He had further added that his decision remains to be private.  “My faith choice is a matter which I would like to keep private.”
