It goes without saying that MS Dhoni has been one of the shining lights of the cricketing arena on and off the field. Defying all odds, the Ranchi-born cricket prodigy made it to the helm with his sheer wits and prowess. Adding feathers of adulation, Dhoni led the team from the front as India clinched all the 3 ICC trophies under his stewardship.

Without a shade of doubt, the 39-year-old has played a crucial role in helping fans wear a smile of happiness. Eventually, the prolific match-winner has become a candle of inspiration in the cricketing world which appears to remain enlightened forever. Among the millions, Australia Women all-rounder, Grace Harris also draws immense inspiration from the legend.

She expressed after amassing a match-winning half-century in the run-chase of the opening game of the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

I’ve been watching a lot of MS Dhoni’s innings, says Grace Harris

The Aussie T20 specialist is known for her gritty and vintage willow-work. In the 11 T20I matches she has played, Harris has notched mesmerizing 120 runs for the team. Currently, she is plying her trade for Brisbane Heat in the ongoing WBBL which commenced on Sunday.

Talking about the opening game of the WBBL, it took place at the North Sydney Oval in Sydney on Sunday morning. Batting first, Perth Scorchers posted 132. In reply, Brisbane Heat chased down the target with three overs and seven wickets to spare. Grace Harris scored miraculous 53 runs off 37 balls and took her team close to the finish line.

Thereafter, the budding talent had a word of appreciation for MS Dhoni. “I’ve been watching a lot of MS Dhoni’s innings really, I took a bit of inspiration from him,” she said according to cricket.com.au. Eventually, the right-hander lauded heaps of praises for Dhoni’s match-winning skills. She wishes to incorporate his flair elegance of finishing games with a bang.

“He’s a fantastic finisher of the game and he might get behind but at the end of the day, they win games and he’s ahead of the count. I’m definitely hoping to do something similar to that,” Grace Harris added. Moreover, she has garnered the calm-mindset from the Indian stalwart which is working wonders for her with matches going down-the-wire.

“I’ve found its really just working for me, the game plan I’ve got. I can catch up, it doesn’t matter how many dot balls I have – it’s not ideal and you want to rotate the strike as much as possible – but in situations like today where I struggle early, it’s (about) remaining in a calm mindset,” she further said.
