Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who’s known to share a great bond with Akhtar, was one of the first to offer support to the former Pakistan paceman. “Just wanted to reach out and let you know that you have my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. May she rests in peace. Be strong my brother. Waheguru Mehar kare,” tweeted the spinner, who recently announced retirement from all forms of international cricket.

He bid farewell to international cricket post the 2011 World Cup but not before claiming 444 wickets in 224 international matches. The ex-pacer is an active commentator and analyst nowadays, who often makes headlines with his controversial statements.
