It is fair to say that the year 2019 has belonged to Rohit Sharma. The Indian vice-captain has been in the form of his life. And, his runs have not been restricted to only white-ball cricket. The Indian white-ball vice-captain made a successful transition to opening the batting in the longest format of the game in the recently concluded India-South Africa series.

The swashbuckling right-handed batsman celebrated his transition as a Test match opener with back-to-back hundreds in his maiden stint in the aforementioned position. Rohit became only the second Indian opener after Sunil Gavaskar and the sixth overall to register hundreds in each innings of a Test match besides also becoming the only batsman to rack up in excess of 300 runs in his maiden stint as an opener.

Sharma also brought his ‘HITMAN’ moniker into a Test match cricket as he laid into the hapless South African spinners- Keshav Maharaj, George Linde and Dan Piedt in particular to shellack the all-time record for the most number of sixes in a single Test match as well as in a series.

Rohit Sharma shares a throwback picture

With Virat Kohli rested Rohit is now gearing up to lead Team India in the three-match Twenty20 International series. The first of three T20Is will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. And, before the first match, Rohit Sharma shared a throwback picture from one of the Team India’s practice sessions.

In the picture, the current stand-in captain Rohit Sharma was seen having a fun chat with the Indian pacer Ishant Sharma and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. With Ishant Sharma tying his long hair, in the back view, his posture can be easily misjudged with football legend Zlatan Ibrahimović. Zlatan is a Swedish professional footballer and is well known as one of the best strikers of his generation.

Meanwhile, Team India will take on the visiting Bangladeshi team in the first T20I in Delhi on Sunday, November 03. The next two T20I encounters will take place in Rajkot and Nagpur. The two-match Test series will be played in Indore and Kolkata.
